Screen Dos user guide
This guide describes the current Screen Dos controls. Public distribution is being prepared. Purchase and Virtual Display Trial availability must be confirmed in the official release information.
1. What Screen Dos does
Screen Dos displays a Windows PC's screen on another device. The sending PC is the Host; the receiving device is the Viewer. One Viewer can connect at a time. The Viewer is view-only and cannot control the Host's mouse or keyboard. Audio and file transfer are not provided.
Normal physical-display and window sharing is free. No account is required, and Nagori Soft does not relay your video through its servers.
2. Supported environment and network
The primary Host target is Windows 11 64-bit. Windows 10 64-bit is best effort and still needs separate acceptance before it can be declared formally supported. Virtual Display requires Windows 11 x64. Current Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Android Chrome and iPhone/iPad Safari are intended Viewer browsers. Features such as full screen vary by browser and device.
Connect both devices to a trusted LAN or a private VPN you manage. For separate locations, configure both devices for a private VPN such as Tailscale or WireGuard. Screen Dos does not configure the VPN. Avoid public Wi-Fi or an unsegmented network containing devices you do not trust.
3. Prepare the Host and Viewer
Start Screen Dos on the Host and prepare a browser on the Viewer. The Viewer does not need the Screen Dos application. A Windows Viewer can also use the separate Connection Launcher product.
4. Setup and Portable
After publication, use a download route listed on the official product page. Microsoft Store is the recommended route when an actual published listing is available. Portable starts without an installation wizard. Setup manages installation, shortcuts and uninstallation.
Portable also saves settings and logs on the PC; they are not necessarily beside the executable. Check the actual official signing status and SHA-256. Do not disable Windows protections to run an untrusted download.
5. Select a network and IPv4 address
On the Host, use Network for connection to select the network the Viewer can reach. Auto (Recommended) is for the normal physical private LAN. Select a VPN explicitly and inspect its connection method and allowed range in Network details.
If an adapter has several IPv4 addresses, each endpoint is listed separately. Use the URL for the chosen address. If it disappears, select the network again; the app does not silently switch an explicitly selected endpoint.
6. Open the QR code or connection URL
Scan the Host's current QR code on the Viewer, or enter its displayed connection URL in the browser address bar. Share → Copy connection URL is also available. Copy the entire URL and open it directly instead of searching for it.
Old QR codes and URLs can expire. When starting again, use the one currently displayed by the Host. Do not publish the connection URL on a public website or social network.
7. Use or omit the six-digit PIN
If Use PIN authentication is set to Use, enter the current six-digit PIN from the Host's connection card on the Viewer. PINs expire, and repeated incorrect attempts temporarily limit new attempts.
Not used still requires Host approval. A PIN update deferred during an active connection is normal. PIN expiry alone does not end an already approved stream.
8. Approve the Viewer on the Host
Check the incoming request and its connection source, then approve it. Reject requests you do not recognize. Approval has a time limit; ignoring a request rejects it. A correct PIN never replaces explicit Host approval.
9. Share a physical display
Choose the intended display under Screen to share, then select Start sharing. The entire selected display can be visible, so prepare notifications and private information before starting. With several monitors, confirm which display you selected.
10. Share a window
Select the intended Window. Use Share → Refresh share targets if necessary. Closing or minimizing a window can make capture unavailable. Changes to the shared source are selected on the Host.
11. Choose video quality
Under Quality settings, choose a Low, Medium, High or Custom preset. Automatic adjusts quality to network conditions. When changing detailed settings, select Apply quality settings.
If video breaks up, start with a lower preset, resolution or frame rate. Higher quality needs more network bandwidth and processing capacity on both devices.
12. Pause, resume and stop
Pause stops the original video while keeping the connection. Resume sharing resumes it. Stop sharing ends sharing. To send video again, select Start sharing on the Host.
Locking the PC, sleeping it or losing the selected network can also end sharing. After returning, inspect the network and Viewer state and start sharing explicitly.
13. Viewer display modes
Fit shows the whole image without cropping its edges. Different aspect ratios can leave empty space. Fill fills the available area and may crop edges. These controls do not change the Host's screen resolution or content.
14. Full screen
Select Full screen on the Viewer. To return, use Exit full screen or the device's supported exit action, such as Esc. If the browser or operating system does not support this action, use its own display controls.
15. Cursor display
Inspect the Host's cursor setting under Quality settings. Supported physical displays can use a separate display-only cursor; other conditions use the cursor embedded in the video. It represents the Host's cursor and cannot be controlled from the Viewer. Changing the shared source or pausing can change cursor visibility.
16. Leave and reconnect
Select End connection on the Viewer to leave, or use the Host's disconnect control. A short network interruption may reconnect in the same tab. After the reconnect window expires, the tab closes or the Host ends the session, open the current connection URL and repeat PIN entry and Host approval.
17. Connection Launcher
Screen Dos Connection Launcher is a separate product. It validates the current Host URL and opens the Viewer page. Its Windows version needs WebView2 Runtime. A regular browser can also connect without Launcher.
Screen Dos handles the PIN and Host approval in either case. Use Esc or the full-screen exit control to leave full screen in Launcher. Availability must be confirmed in the separate Launcher release information.
18. Check for updates
The app contacts the official Update API only when you select Help → Check for updates. It does not automatically download or replace itself. Verified update information can open an official page or Release Notes in your default browser. Setup and Portable use separate release channels.
An update-check failure does not stop normal screen sharing. No published update metadata is different from a successful confirmation that you are up to date.
19. Contribution
Nagori Soft Contribution is optional monetary support. The standard unit is USD 5 for one Contribution. It does not purchase software or unlock features. Use it only through an available official contribution route.
Registering a Contribution Code in About Screen Dos stores a signed Receipt after verification. The Code is not a license key and grants no Virtual Display entitlement. Startup Receipt verification and removing a registration are local operations. A refund or revocation affects future Code verification; it does not remotely delete a previously stored Receipt.
20. Virtual Display
Screen Dos Virtual Display creates an extra Windows display as a paid optional component. It needs a production-signed driver, a compatible release and ready, published Production Commerce. It is currently being prepared and is not presented as available.
The established offer is a USD 20 one-time tax-inclusive base price, a perpetual v1 entitlement, at most three concurrently registered devices, and a no-card 14-day Trial. The Trial starts only after display creation, Windows recognition, Screen Dos mapping and server confirmation all succeed. Installing a driver alone does not start it. See the Virtual Display explanation and authoritative Legal for the 14-day no-reason self-service full refund, recovery and device-deactivation conditions.
